Katelyn had absolutely nothing to do. She sat in her new room, looking out the window. There was nothing but old stores and shops. Only a few people roamed around. Others ate outside while cars drove by. A drop of rain ran down her window. Katelyn followed the rain drop with her finger. Her new room was nothing but full of boxes. Katelyn opened a box to reveal her books that would stand on her bookshlelf. Another box contained clothes. and another contained her shoes. Katelyn realized this town was going to be very boring, since she liked to be a dectective. Katelyn smiled at the thought. She remembered visiting her grandma's house when she was young and playing out in her tall pine trees in her backyard. While unpacking a bit, Katelyn wondered what she would do for fun in this town. There was nothing suspicious aboout this town other than its place on the map!
"Katelyn! We have company!" Katelyn slowly made her way downstairs, trying not to get lost. Downstairs stood her mom, her dad, and a thin man who wore a bell-boy suit. He was tall and thin and something was wrong with the side of his lip because it looked like it had been stitched together somehow. He had gray hair that poked out of his hat. He did a small bow to Katelyn and turned to her parents. "I am Tom. Tom Gritchmandine. This house is old, are yuo sure you want to buy it?" he asked, Katelyn's parents nodded. The man went on, "Alright then." he tossed keys into Katelyn's dad's hands and tipped his hat. "I live over on Jerimiah Lane, just down the street...if you need me."
