Winter: snow, happiness, love, Presents, Christmas, no school, a new year! That's Winter!!! Every single second of a minute of an hour of a day, I am enjoying my winter break. I am mostly looking forward to Christmas and family time.
Every year, my family makes a trip up to Utah to visit my family, and have Christmas all together. This year, where my family recently moved and got a new dog, it is really tricky to pay for gas for the 12 hour drive and not to mention Buddy Passes, if we were flying. When my parents told us (my sister, brother, and I) we were all really upset. I felt really sad and was super duper mad! I realized I wasn't the one paying for the gas, and if I was, it would take me a lifetime for one trip. Right now though, I feel sympathy for my parents. Its a lot of work to buy a new house, dog, and pay for Christmas presents. That's enough for me!
I am looking forward to Christmas, even though it won't be in Utah. I will miss my family, but my mom's dad and his kids (my aunt and uncle) who are my age are coming down with their mom! I am really looking forward to that even though it will only be a short stay!
Winter is a time of fun! At time where you get to look back on memories from other years! So spend time with your family and have fun! So have a very Merry Winter!

Japan is a very small country located to the east of China and the Koreas. Japan is made up of 4 major islands that belonged to many different peoples throughout time! Japan's emperors and empresses wanted Japan to have an influence, so the emperors/empresses sent out scholars to learn about China and bring information back.
Japan got a lot of its ways from China. Buddhism, government, and some others. One thing I think is the most important way would be the government. One problem, though. One emperor wanted to change the government. So, the emperors would have more power, like in China. Many people disagreed with this so this "law or idea" did not pass. Other than that Japan traded, and had many same government ways. They had emperors which would be like a king or president to us. Then they had the regents, which was like governors and mayors. Then, they had the townspeople which would be like an ordinary person in a city. Like a policeman, or a doctor, or plumber.
We get a lot of things from other countries from around the world! We just don't realize it! Well, take some time to think about the world around you! Bye.. or however you say it in Japanese!

The day was as clear as glass. The sky was blue, and the fields were pure green. I picked weeds and plants quickly, so I could go to the village. I wanted to shop for clothing and jewelry, but for now I was in the fields. Then, it struck me. Sounding like thunder, thousands of men raced down hill towards the village. I didn't know much, but I knew enough to tell that the men were Mongols. I raced home to warn my parents, for they were the closest to Mongols at this point. My family quickly packed provisions and told me to warn t he village, but to meet them by the outskirts of town. I had to have courage, but I obeyed them. I raced to the village and started crying out, "The Mongols are coming! The Mongols are coming!" People's heads peaked out of shops and houses. I repeated my cries.
A nearby army man started closing down shops and running in and out of them, warning villagers about the attacks! I ran thought out the village until I knew the majority of the people were out of the village. I met my parent outside  of the village and watched silently (like the rest of the crowd) watch the city fall t the ground, burned. A new chapter would be beginning. Very very soon.
